Your business network includes not only the PC's that you and your coworkers use every day, but the other pieces of equipment that you may not think (or even know) about.

Even a small business can build up a substantial network: You may have a file server. That server should have a backup system. Your Internet connection may require a device such as a cable or DSL modem. If you are on the Internet, you probably have a router or firewalll. Shared printers are network devices too.

Then there is the network wiring itself—and if you go wireless, there are wireless access points to consider as well.

Most small-to-medium-sized businesses don't have a network administrator on staff. Usually an employee or someone's brother-in-law takes care of the network when they have time. This isn't very efficient or cost-effective in the long run.
